Independence is a matter of thousands of canaries
On Saturday March 6, between 2000 and 3000 and canaries canary, marched through the Decolonisation and Independence Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The course of events since the last manifestation of 24-O Aguere, turned to this new demonstration for Decolonization and Independence of the Canary Islands, an event to follow with great interest . Press Archipelago, which had maintained a campaign of degradation of the independence movement, the boycott of Ben Magec inexplicable, non-participation of some organizations, organizational independence and doubts about this new event, did not augur much hope of success. However, the people returned to surprise the public opinion gathered en masse in the city of Guiniguada.
Starting from the Plaza de Belén María, a procession of over 3000 people, organizers and 2000, according to local police, ripped and at 12 am. Opposite the building of the OTP, currently occupied by the National Police, there was a first incident. A man aged about 40 paramilitary dress, stood in front of the banner carried by the young organizers, staff in hand. Then, he shouted "Top Spain" and "The Canary Islands are Spain, but fuck you" . The demonstrators, showing great civility, not fall into provocation and simply spent some anti-fascist songs.
During the march through the streets of the Isleta, Banda Guayedra enlivened the proceedings with his music. The protesters raised their proclamations peacefully throughout the tour, screaming as "Canary is not Spain, it is my nation" , "7 islands, one nation" , " gofio, work, culture and freedom "or " Spain listening, Canary Islands are in the fight " . Faced with bigoted statements of bystanders, the march answered with chants like "English on that boat" . But most of the talks emerged on foot of expression, contained a little sympathy for the idea. The discrediting of politicians to public opinion, the class character of the neighborhood of La Isleta and small awakening of national sentiment emerging, makes the idea of \u200b\u200bIndependence begins to enter the heads of citizens.
The protest ended in the Parque Santa Catalina. Tumas Mora, recalled in his presentation to Paco Bello and all and all that were not there. Subsequently, Jorge Tinerfe read a statement in a personal capacity at the request of the Bureau of Tamarán. "And what do we live? Some ask us. In our work, as we always have" he said in an emotional speech Tinerfe twinning, where fighting for a real transformation of the islands' society and not a "mere change of flag" . Then Laura, a girl representative of a group of Latin Americans living in the Canary Islands, in solidarity with the cause of independence, he read his speech: " This representation also boosts American voice, because we live here, and feel part of this town, where we join every day. The vast majority of us, along with the vast majority of the Islanders, fought in a time not so far together, side by side against colonialism " . Finally, Lara Gonzalez and Raul Vega, on behalf of the Bureau read the manifesto.
The most evident success of the event, has passed the media terrorism, the role of some assumptions of independence and many more obstacles. In the end, who spoke was the street, which is what needs to talk. There, thousands of canaries, were those who gave their verdict.
